Pyroban’s facility in Shoreham by Sea, UK, is evolving with a new production space to help meet customer demand for explosion protected materials handling equipment.

The new 4635 square metre production facility will have additional space for converting explosion protected forklift trucks, with the capacity to work on up to 40 pieces of 3 tonne equipment at any one time. The fully air-conditioned facility will feature an improved layout for product flow, as well as a 2-tonne and 2.5-tonne gantry and an in-house paint shop. The facility will continue to include Pyroban’s milling, turning, welding and general fabrication operations.

Pyroban has a long history of more than 40 years in Shoreham by Sea, during which the site transformed many times to meet ever-changing market and business needs. For example, in 2018, the company re-routed all core services, including manufacturing and production, to Shoreham, as well as investing in a new electric vehicle conversion production line.

The latest changes will better accommodate functions at the Pyroban site which have naturally outgrown their current operation. However, the primary goal of the project is to help Pyroban deliver the best possible customer experience.

“This is especially important as many customers across industry face challenges following Covid-19, yet still must invest in essential ATEX compliant materials handling equipment,” says Darren Boiling, Pyroban’s Materials Handling Sales Manager.

“The new facility, combined with our close relationships with forklift OEMs and recent streamlining of management, customer service, and aftermarket functions, aims to make forklift conversions with active gas detection and passive explosion protection conversions even more competitively priced for customers,” he continues.

The current project is already underway and due for completion by the end of September 2020.
