The 2021 update for Pyroban’s oil and gas brochure is now available.

The “Equipment and engines for hazardous areas” brochure is designed for packagers, equipment suppliers, and users of temporary well service equipment such as cementers, N2 units, wireline, and pump units.

This year we have added extra detail about key components and the main features of Pyroban® systems used to protect diesel engines operating in Zone 2 hazardous areas offshore.

The update also includes our two latest solutions enabling operators to eliminate the “plate type” exhaust flame arrestor from the explosion proof diesel engine design. With Ever Clear™ exhaust flame arrestors or Ex-SCS™, operators can enjoy longer operation, reduce unproductive downtime and bring maintenance costs down.

Furthermore, operators are no longer exposed to sources of ignition if a ‘dummy arrestor’ is used. Manual handling and environmental compliance issues also disappear by taking away the need to regularly change and solvent clean the heavy flame arrestors.

For more information read our white paper “How to Remove “Plate Type” Exhaust Flame Arrestors from ATEX Category 3G Engines”.

We have also added new integration examples to the 2021 brochure featuring explosion proof engines built for ATEX Zone 2 hazardous area applications.

Importantly, the brochure still provides helpful details about the risks of using standard (or poorly protected) diesel engines in Zone 2 potentially explosive atmospheres offshore.

Oil and Gas

One of the key considerations that we are raising awareness of this year is checking the detail of the thermal control and treatment used. You can read more on this here.
