We are pleased to announce the appointment of Marlon Parbery as our new Service Team Leader.
Marlon has been part of the Pyroban business since 1998, having started his Pyroban journey as a diesel forklift truck fitter. During this time, Marlon learned valuable skills such as welding and fabricating, and how to undertake explosion protection conversions on diesel and electric lift trucks.
“Back in the early 2000s, lift truck technology was so much simpler and the market has changed”, says Marlon, explaining that he has physically converted dozens of explosion proof forklifts in his time at Pyroban.
“We were doing more diesel trucks for Zone 1 featuring either air start with pneumatic control systems or with very basic electrical systems. Today, diesel trucks have evolved with very complex car technology and we are seeing far fewer Zone 1 diesel trucks.”
Offshore Engine Applications
In 2005, Marlon began working on the assembly of explosion proof diesel engine packages for use as prime movers in temporary well service equipment on offshore oil and gas installations.
It wasn’t long before he then applied for the role of Offshore Service Engineer in support of the growing Pyroban business in the oil and gas sector across the world.
Over the course of the next 10 years, Marlon worked globally both on and offshore in some amazing destinations such as Borneo, India, Tehran, Angola, Libya and Azerbaijan whilst commissioning, building and repairing offshore diesel engine packages.
ATEX forklift service engineer
Fast forward to 2016 and Marlon began working in the UK as a Forklift Truck Service Engineer. During this time, his hours were split between travelling to provide customers with support, as well as working from the UK headquarters in Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex to offer technical support.
Technical Support for Ex SCS
Throughout 2019, Marlon once again began to travel globally, supporting Pyroban’s loyal customers and commissioning the new offshore engine safety shutdown system, Pyroban Ex SCS. This was an important launch for Pyroban requiring the experience, dedication and passion offered by Marlon.
Today, after more than 20 years’ experience with Pyroban in the factory and in the field, and in both sides of the Pyroban business, Marlon has been appointed to the role of Pyroban Service Team Leader.
“The most satisfying part of my job is that I get to help customers repair and maintain vital equipment that makes a real difference in tough applications,” says Marlon. “I get to work as part of an amazing team to solve any customer issues. It’s a great challenge in a great business.”
