March 2009 - OTC EXPLOSION PROOF SOLUTIONS AT OTC 2009Explosion protection specialists Pyroban® and Ex-Solutions Consulting™ are exhibiting at OTC in Houston, 4-7 May on stand 2341 in the UK pavilion. At OTC 2009, Pyroban® and Ex-Solutions Consulting™ will focus on the safety of oilfield service equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres in the global oil and gas industry. Rob Double, responsible for Pyroban's business upstream explains "North Sea safety standards are migrating across the world but there is still a lot of education that needs to happen concerning the safety of oilfield service equipment in some regions.” Pyroban's Oil and Gas Division concentrates on explosion protection solutions for diesel engines used to power equipment such as compressors, cementing and nitrogen units. “We find that there seems to be confusion about terminology, Rig-safe and Zone 2 for example, which usually results in equipment such as coiled tubing units or HP pumps being used without adequate protection in hazardous areas." he adds. The company engineers systems that can be fitted to electronic or mechanically controlled engines that prevent them from causing an explosion. The systems include components such as exhaust gas coolers, air inlet shutdown valves, 3GP™ and spark arrestors. Complete explosion proof solutions for a variety of equipment are also available through Pyroban's Ex-Solutions Consulting, also present at OTC. The company specialises in offering a flexible explosion proof service, acting as an additional resource for businesses looking to assess equipment for operation in hazardous areas and delivering engineered solutions and certification.
