Industrial, Nuclear & MilitaryDust-tec 2D or 3D is Pyroban's Zone 21 and 22 solution for electric forklift trucks and warehouse equipment, combining various explosion protection methods. The protection can be combined with gas and vapour explosion protection.
Conversion, testing and certification take place at Pyroban factories ensuring the equipment is ATEX 94/9/EC compliant* or compliant to local regulations.
All ignition sources are protected so that the forklift truck is safe to operate in the presence of a flammable atmosphere. It is a passive system and does not detect a gas or vapour.
Dust-tec 2D or 3D explosion proof conversions usually refer to EU standard EN1755:2000+A1:2009 and are suitable for the latest counterbalance forklift trucks, pallet, stacker and reach trucks and order pickers.
Conversions may include the following, however, check with Pyroban for more specific details:
- Explosion proof Ex’d’ enclosures
- Surface temperature limitation to ensure the motors, brakes, electrics and other components remain below the dust cloud and layer ignition temperatures
- Frame leakage monitoring
- Stainless steel cladding of the forks
- IP enclosures
- Ex’e’ motors
- Ex’i’ intrinsically safe circuits
- Ex’m’ encapsulation
- Cat 2D or 3D battery fitted with IP rated plugs and sockets
Pyroban will need to know the following:
Conductive or Combustible? or both... | For example, flour, cocoa, coffee, milk, corn - starch, polymers, talcum powder, custard, sugar, paper fibres etc. are all combustible. However carbon black, aluminium and other metals are likely to be conductive dusts and require additional precautions.
Ignition temperature? Cloud (C) and Layer (L) | There are two ignition temperatures, layer ignition (on a surface) and cloud (in the air). Components should not exceed the layer ignition temperature. For example Cocoa C300°C L200°C, Flour C490°C L340°C.
