Diesel Explosion Proof Plant (2D / 3D + G) Dustmech 2D or 3D is Pyroban's Zone 21 or 22 solution for diesel mobile plant, combining various explosion protection methods. The protection can be combined with gas and vapour explosion protection.
Conversion, testing and certification take place at Pyroban factories ensuring the equipment is ATEX 94/9/EC compliant* or compliant to local regulations.
All ignition sources are protected so that the mobile plant is safe to operate in the presence of a flammable dust or powder.
Dustmech 2D and 3D explosion proof conversions usually refer to EU standard EN1755:2000+A1:2009 and are suitable for the latest plant equipment.
Conversions may include the following, however, check with Pyroban for more specific details:
- Explosion proof Ex’d’ enclosures
- Surface temperature limitation to ensure the engine, motors, brakes, electrics and other components remain below the dust layer and cloud ignition temperatures
- Manual shutdown valve
- Water cooled exhaust gas cooler to limit surface and exhaust temperatures
- Frame leakage monitoring
- Ex’e’ components
- Ex’i’ intrinsically safe circuits
- Ex’m’ encapsulation
- Cat 2D or 3D battery with IP rated plugs and sockets
- IP enclosures
Pyroban will need to know the following:
Conductive or Combustible? or both... | For example, flour, cocoa, coffee, milk, corn - starch, polymers, talcum powder, custard, sugar, paper fibres etc. are all combustible. However, carbon black, aluminium and other metals are likely to be conductive dusts and require additional precautions.
Ignition temperature? Cloud (C) and Layer (L) | There are two ignition temperatures, layer ignition (on a surface) and cloud (in the air). Components should not exceed the layer ignition temperature. For example Cocoa C300°C L200°C, Flour C490°C L340°C.
Dustmech 2D/3D is suitable for turbo charged engine powered diesel trucks including those with hydrostatic drive.
