Quality management is one of the most important elements of the Pyroban business. We serve a number of high risk market sectors so it is essential that the products and services provided are delivered within a robust Quality Management System focused on ensuring we “Protect people, their investment and our environment”.
Each Pyroban Group company is certified to ISO9001:2008 quality standard by local internationally recognised accreditation organisations such as SIRA, TUV and LRQA.
In addition, each Pyroban Group company attains the required level of 3rd party certification for the business markets it serves such as explosion protection (ATEX, IECEx, GB – China), competency (IECEx technical competency scheme, CompEx) and emissions protection (VERT).
Certification of the finished product (component or assembly) to the required standards, Directives and legislation underpins Pyroban’s business activity. The Pyroban designed products are developed to meet the exacting requirements of the niche markets and applications that we serve. We believe this provides our customer with the optimum choice of products, guaranteed assurance of conformity through certification and marking and an overall confidence that Pyroban really understands “the science behind the technology” we provide.
In house test facilities
To maximise our efficiency in developing bespoke solutions within market driven timescales, Pyroban has invested in our own test facilities providing development and pre-certification testing facilities within the Pyroban Group.
Our in house testing capability includes:
- Test facility managed and audited against BS EN ISO IEC 17025
- Reference pressure and flame non-transmission testing of explosion proof (Exd) enclosures and systems
- Ex nR enclosure testing as required by EN1755:2000
- Engine dynamometer up to 700 BHP continuous rating
- Vehicle stability testing according to EN 1726 & ISO 3691
- EMC testing (reference) according to EN12895
- Thermal analysis using thermal image and thermocouple measurements including real time radio telemetry data logging
Customers are encouraged to visit our factories to view testing processes (by appointment only).
Explosion Proof Components
Pyroban has 3rd party accreditation to design and manufacture according to various protection concepts:
- Ex nA, nC (Category 3G)
- Ex ia, ib, ic (intrinsic safety)
- Ex e (increased safety)
- Ex d (flameproof)
- Ex m (encapsulation)
Pyroban’s explosion protected components are certified according to the regulatory requirements (ATEX, IECEx, GB etc)
Each component is issued with a Certificate of Conformity to the relevant standard that it complies with.
Where products require special certification, Pyroban works with the customer and local certification bodies to ensure all requirements are met. For example in specific geographies (i.e. South Africa, China, US etc) or by application (i.e. mining). Contact us for further information.
Explosion Proof Conversions
Pyroban solutions are built and certified to the relevant European ATEX, Chinese GB or other specific regulations requested by the customer.
Our UK, Holland, China and Singapore factories are authorised (notified) within the framework of the ATEX 94/9/EC Directive to produce Category 2 and 3 equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22). These notifications are approved by ATEX notified bodies SIRA (UK, China and Singapore) and KEMA (Holland).
Our China facility is also authorised to produce Category 2 and 3 equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22) within China. Pyroban (Suzhou) was the first facility in China to obtain certification against the Chinese fork truck standard GB19854-2005 and holds over 150 truck conversion certificates to date.
All converted equipment undergoes rigorous testing as required by the specific standards, after which the equipment is certified according to regulatory requirements.
For example, under ATEX all Category 2 equipment is 3rd party certified by an ATEX Notified Body. In China all Ex conversions require 3rd party certification for both Category 3 and Category 2 equipment.
Explosion Prood Diesel Engine Kits
Pyroban’s application and design Engineers work closely with the customer to develop kits of parts which are then client installed to complete their Category 3G system.
The kit, comprising inlet and / or exhaust system components are designed, manufactured and tested by Pyroban according to the ATEX Category 3G requirements including flame non-transmission testing of the Exd enclosures.
The kits are supplied with Certificates of Conformity for the relevant components and installation documentation. It is then the responsibility of the packager to produce a Technical Construction File that reflects the engineering design, and presents a coherent explanation including any assumptions, risk assessments etc.
Final testing of the finished assembly including thermal analysis is carried out either by the client or Pyroban’s trained commissioning Engineers.
The final assembly is declared Category 3G compliant by the packager who will also issue the CE marking declaration.
Ex-Powerpacks
Pyroban also offers the extended supply chain to include building up the engine system into an explosion protected diesel powerpack.
In this context, Pyroban is the manufacturer of the assembly and will develop the Technical Construction file, combine all of the component certificates, carry out appropriate risk assessments and final testing in order to place a certified power pack on the market with a Declaration of Incorporation (DOI).
The client is still responsible for final CE marking of the finished complete system.
3rd party certification may also be provided depending on the regulatory requirements of the project or end client request.
Environmental Technologies
Our environmental protection systems and components are tested and approved according to their specification. Application specific testing is carried out to verify the final emissions performance.
A number of the 3rd party systems which we sell have full VERT approval and our Acti-Trap-D has a VERT approved filter substrate.
Our FBC system comprises VERT approved components and is approved by the Energy Savings Trust in the UK.
