My whole life I have had a passion for the internal combustion engine and its many uses both as a business and as a hobby.
This interest combined with determination, optimism and continual learning has formed the foundation upon which the Pyroban Group has been built.
Today Pyroban continues this interest which is now shared by others across a continually expanding offering of products and services with a truly international brand and international footprint.
Most of all, I am proud that the core principle of protecting people, their investment and our environment remains at the heart of this company and I believe that with endeavour, the Pyroban Group will continue to develop in the future.

But it was in 1969 that it all started at ICI.
- 1969 | Pyroban project implemented by ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries) after the accidental release and ignition of a flammable vapour by a diesel engine at its Wilton Plant
- 1972 | Power Research Ltd is formed by Phil Tyrer (Pyroban Founder) to offer a sub-contract prototype design and development service to the engineering industry. Power Research carries out development work for the Pyroban project
- 1974 | Power Research Ltd acquires the Pyroban name and business. Following rapid growth, Power Research changes its name to Pyroban Ltd
- 1980 | Pyroban pioneers the first gas detection system for battery electric vehicles
- 1987 | Pyroban Benelux BV (Netherlands) formed
- 1990 | Pyroban SARL (France) formed. Pyroban gains Lloyds accreditation to BS5750 (part 1), ISO 9001 and EN29001
- 1995 | Pyroban Group formed
- 1996 | Pyroban Envirosafe BV and Pyroban Envirosafe Ltd formed
- 1997 | China Technical Support Centre opened in Beijing
- 1998 | Construction of new Pyroban headquarters in UK
- 2000 | Pyroban conversions built to comply with European Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX) "Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres". Pyroban launch Gascheka, an added-safety gas detection system for non-classified areas
- 2001 | Pyroban launch system5000, an innovative gas detection system for diesel and electric applications
- 2004 | Pyroban launch 3GP for the offshore industry pioneering new technology and challenging all current standards
- 2006 | Pyroban (Suzhou) Safety Systems Co. Ltd formed and production starts in China
- 2009 | Pyroban becomes majority stakeholder in Adex Zonex
- 2010 | Pyroban acquires Pyropress.
- 2011 | Pyroban launch system6000 which supersedes system5000 with pioneering interchangeable gas sensing heads with pellistor and infrared technology
- 2011 | Adex Zonex becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of the Pyroban Group
- 2011 | Pyroban acquires Broadland Radiators
- 2011 | Pyroban Group Ltd is acquired by Caterpillar Inc
- 2011 | Pyroban opens South China Tech Centre in Guangzhou, China
